The Red route winds its way very lightly over the hills dominated by the Castle of Soiano to the west and the Municipality of Polpenazze to the east. The first 9 holes of GardaGolf offer suggestive views and an interesting and challenging design for both expert and beginner players.
The most characteristic hole is the 2, a par 3 with an elevated start and a green frontally defended by a lake and large patches of flowers that delimit its depth; it was awarded “one of the 500 most beautiful holes in the world” by Golf Magazine.
From the tee of hole 8, the most challenging of the course, the horizon opens as far as the eye can see on Lake Garda with the backdrop of Mount Baldo; this long downhill par 4 is characterized by an insidious water obstacle on the right, a central depression, and on the left the former manor house of the Omodeo family, now a residential complex, dominates the scene.
Very long and difficult par 4, it is essential to have the tee shot in fairway, so to hit the second shot on a very sloping and often fast green from the bottom to the beginning.
Short Par 3 with large drop from tee to green, and water in front of the green. This is the symbol of Gardagolf, it is essential making a good choice of the club.
Dogleg par 5, the longest players can reach the green in two by cutting over the trees with the tee shot; otherwise, two precise shots are essential to land on the right of the water hazard and have an easier entry to the green.
A slightly blind tee shot for this downhill par 4. It’s important to keep away from the right side, which is very punishing in this hole. Green hidden by a bunker on the right and very sloping from end to beginning.
Last par 5, on a downhill and dogleg to the left. Your strategy should not bring you to cut the corner too much with the tee shot. It is important to calculate the second shot well to land in front of the ditch and attack the green with the third shot.
Uphill par 4 with a bunker on the right. The second shot to the elevated green is always much longer than it seems, the green is the biggest pitfall of this hole; the strong slope and a step that crosses the middle of the green makes it often fast and difficult.
Short par 4 that offers the possibility of different strategies; the easiest does not require the use of the driver and let you hit the green with a medium iron; if you like more risk&reward, you can get to hit a sand wedge towards the sloping green from right to left and defended by 4 bunkers.
The most difficult hole is a long and narrow par 4; there’s no relaxing in this hole where you need a perfect tee shot just above the slope, the ideal position where you can attack the flag with a long iron; narrow and long green, quite ondulated from right to left.
Uphill par 3 of medium length, a conservative strategy is recommended when the flag is defended by the left bunker.
